12. NetCommons Modification for Specific Purpose

12-1¡¡Theme Manager

This module is use to modify the theme which is showed in the top page of website, also in every rooms, and in order to add the new theme files.

The theme manager is located at the menu in MyRoom.

a. Adding new theme file

First, [from the page of download] of the NetCommons site, we would like to add, the right clicking the ¡Ètheme file¡É, [the object it selects retention] in the file, retains in your own PC. Next, installed the ¡Ètheme manager¡É is opened in the My ROOM. [Color tone of the background and the idea contest is decided in summary indication], ¡Ètheme¡É [has lined up into directory name], (Figure 1).

To uploads the theme file to the system by theme manager just click Upload menu. Figure 2 is showed when click [Upload].

Input the directory name (Should be add ¡È_¡É at the head of the directory name to hide from user) and clicks to add the theme file (make sure that the format of theme file is correct).

In Show list of the theme manager, we can preview the theme by click the ¡ÈPreview¡É and the sample will shows in the popup windows.

The new theme file which it added will shows in the list box of Theme. To modify the theme of website, click of the left column, and click to select a theme from the list.

b. Exiting module edit mode

It is possible to replace the logo, banner and redirect image which are showed in the top page by the new set of images.

To change the logo, banner and redirect image, click [Logo change] menu in the theme manager. The images which are drawn up beforehand are selected by click . The images must be in the correct file format because it is not automatically adjusted. In addition, the new set of logo, banner and redirect image will replace the old one in the themes which are selected.

12-2¡¡Scrap book

To use this module, first please install the ¡Èscrap book¡É from the page of ¡Èmodule management¡É. Next, go to the page of ¡Èauthority management,¡É and authorities the person who can use this module.

The Scrapbook is possible to create in MyRoom. The content is selected from the Announcements, BBS, Journals and Multidatabase module.

Procedure of scrap

¡ Adding and setting the Scrapbook module to MyRoom.
¢ You will see the icon in the scrap modules (Announcements, BBS, Journals and Multidatabase ) at the right top of the article.
£ Click the icon to register the scrap (the figure 9 top).
¤ The scrapbook is verified in MyRoom. (The figure 9 below)

The article in the scrapbook is also possible to classify in categories. To classify we need to edit category first. (Figure 10)

When category is registered, click the title of article to show the details (Figure 11 (1)). Then click Edit (Figure 11 (2)) and select the category from the list box (Figure 11 (3)). We will see the category behind the article title (Figure 11 (4)).

The scrapbook literally it is the tool which can gather and summarize the information which is inside the site in MyRoom.

12-3¡¡Multidatabase

In fact this module is used to simplify the database in NetCommons. It can freely utilize Myroom, GroupRoom and top page according to purpose. To install Multidatabase, First, insert the module to page from add module. Next, click Edit title to input database title, set mail transmission and set the period to show with ¡Ènew¡É icon. Clicks Next to show setting layout.

Select the layout of database from 10 patterns and click next to edit metadata.

The metadata is the data which describes the information concerning one data. It becomes the help which finds the intended data from midst of the mountain of the enormous data. The search which reflects the contents of the data is better than by attaching the metadata to individual information. Especially, the graphics data and the like that way is that it is difficult to do simple keyword search, but to be caught to search it is to become easy by the fact that the metadata is attached.

When finish setting and exit from the edit mode, click to register contents to the multidatabase.

The Multidatabase will showed as below when the contents are registered. You can vote to the information and also register to the scrapbook when click details. It alsi edit and delete the contents in show details.
